How We Vet Participants for The Restart Scheme
Every participant in The Restart Scheme is carefully vetted to ensure they meet eligibility criteria and receive the most effective support possible. Our vetting process focuses on understanding each individual’s background, skills, and readiness for employment, so we can tailor the right level of guidance and resources.
1. Eligibility Verification
We begin by confirming that participants are currently out of work and meet the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) criteria for the Restart Scheme. This includes validating employment status, benefit eligibility, and residency requirements.
2. Initial Assessment and Consultation
Once eligibility is confirmed, we conduct an initial consultation to learn about the participant’s career goals, previous work experience, and personal circumstances. This allows us to identify barriers to employment and areas where support will have the greatest impact.
3. Skills and Needs Evaluation
Participants complete a skills and needs assessment, which helps us match them with the right employment adviser and support services. This evaluation includes transferable skills, digital literacy, communication strengths, and any health or wellbeing considerations.
4. Safeguarding and Suitability Checks
We take safeguarding seriously. Where applicable, background checks and identity verification are completed to ensure all participants engage in a safe and supportive environment.
5. Ongoing Review and Support Alignment
Vetting doesn’t stop after enrolment. As participants progress, we continually review their development and adapt their bespoke support plan—whether it’s 1:1 coaching, CV workshops, health and wellbeing sessions, or introductions to local and national employers.
